TiE Dallas – NewsFlash

Hello All,

Hope all are doing well. Wanted to share some exciting updates, announcements on upcoming events and a call to action.

As many of you may be aware, the global finals of the TYE program was held on Saturday, July 18th. Dallas was represented by Team iDentistry – the Dallas regional winner.

It is a matter of immense pride for us at TiE and the TYE program for us to announce that our team came away with two awards – 2^nd  Runner up and Best Teamwork at the Global event.

They went through a preliminary round of 24 teams from across the world of which 8 teams made it to the final round. Subsequently, that our team placed 3rd best in the whole world is a significant achievement. Kudos to the iDentistry team of Shivani Ramkumar, Vyshnavi Poruri, Venu Poruri and Abhi Padala for a fantastic idea, the research, very well articulated business plan, beautiful presentation and expert answering of questions.

As President of TiE Dallas, I am very proud of our team’s achievement. Thanks team for making Dallas proud. Thanks as well to the extended support team that made it possible – the TYE Program Chair Gans Subramanian, Advisors Manoj Balraj, Mayur Mehta, Coach Anil Rai, other coaches and mentors (many to name here), Charter Members’ who provided feedback (Sunny Banerjea, Vinod Baliga), legal counsel Saurabh Nathany, Corporate Advisor Dean Jones, Dallas Regional judges Dean Jones, Sumit Gautam and Harjot Sachdeva.

What is iDentistry  ?  

The typical dental patient is infrequent in interacting with their dentist even for regular visits. iDentistry, a revolutionary self diagnostic app allows patients to capture images of their mouths to be analyzed with an artificial neural network to provide them with a preliminary diagnosis.

As dentists don’t get a lot of time to spend with their patients generally, the app helps connect and familiarize the dentist with the patient prior to any appointments.

iDentistry provides a safe and user-friendly environment for interaction, appointment scheduling, progress monitoring, treatment options, and overall oral hygiene maintenance.

TiE Dallas Programs and Events:

Further to my earlier update on various TiE Dallas initiatives, we have had a continuous stream of great events and program launches. Your engagement, feedback and support for these programs will ensure that we serve you well. I encourage you to get in touch and get involved in these programs, some of which are listed below.

• TYE – Program to Mentor, coach and launch high school students on the path to entrepreneurship, culminating in an annual global event. Team iDentistry from TYE Dallas won big at the global finals of TYE 2020.
• TiE Tuesday – Held every 4th Tuesday of the month, showcases budding startups, providing an opportunity for them to get instant feedback as well as for investors to look at deals they can take an interest in.
• TiE Ventures – Structured process to review deals funneled in from the TiE Tuesdays and other events, conduct due diligence and participate in ventures
• TiE Women – Program to showcase women entrepreneurial successes and facilitate development of women entrepreneurship.
• Youth Dialogue – Regular discussions with the next generation on thoughts and ideas on various aspects of business, governance, public policy, industry and technology shifts
• State of the Industry – Review of specific industry segments and sub-segments to evaluate challenges and opportunities in industries such as retail, hospitality, telecom, oil&gas, travel
• Diversity & Inclusion – Specific, intentional efforts to create and promote entrepreneurship among diverse cross-sections of society
